I wish to replace the stock 6.5" front door speakers in my 4 speaker Nissan Versa (front and rear doors) with something that can provide more bass and treble. I don't plan on using an external amplifier.

I would like to use a set of components as I will be able to add on a set of tweeters to the car. I've read decent reviews of the Phoenix Gold RSD65cs 6.5" Component Speaker System see here:

Is this someone you would recommend to be used with the JVC KD-S100? I understand component speakers are best used with an external amplifier so that is why I ask

The effect of any new hardware in a vehicle will vary drastically depending on that particular vehicle's speaker placement and interior acoustics. Keep in mind the KD-S100 was created as an upgrade for factory speakers. And it can create a DRAMATIC improvement. Aftermarket speakers add a variable that begin to require a custom tuning. Keep in mind that all aftermarket speakers are not designed to need any signal processing to hear an improvement. Adding a powerful DSP like the DPS (I know, its confusing! Not my call) has unknown effects. I'll be posting a brief history of the KD-S100 to clear up these questions.
