Which Beta Best ? Empty
PostSubject: Which Beta Best ?   Which Beta Best ? Icon_minitimeTue Nov 17, 2009 9:23 pm

I just received and installed my JVC KD-S100 today. It is a very nice unit. I loaded the generic profile supplied with the unit. I have the JVC connected to a 4-channel amp (MTX) which is connected to 4 identical speakers (Pioneer 4-ways). Which optional BETA profile would be best for this setup. I was going to try the DPS Var 02. I burned that folder to a DVD-RW but the unit would not read that so I will get some blank CD-R's and try later. Thanks for any input.

PostSubject: Beta Profile Loaded   Which Beta Best ? Icon_minitimeThu Nov 19, 2009 9:24 pm

I'll respond to my own question. My system consists of an MTX 4-channel amp connected to (4) Pioneer speakers (pretty basic) which is installed in an 08 Ford Ranger. I burned the VAR 02 profile today on CD-R and loaded it into the head unit. I also burned the VAR Sub 02 as someone on this site said it worked well for them. Although the profile does sound pretty good at LOW volumes it does sound really overly "boosted" at any other level. If I were listening to it loud without the Bongiovi on and then switched it on, my head would pop off (lol), and I would probably overdrive the speakers as well. This is why it probably works so well compensating for OEM equipment.

The main reason for my purchase of this unit was that it included 5-Volt pre-amp outs. It's almost impossible to get a head unit with two pairs of 5-Volt pre-amp outs for $109.00 (what I paid). I'm able to really get some sound out of my MTX now as opposed to the previous head unit that had 2.5-Volt outs. In addition, it IS a nice head unit with the other features such as USB, SD, etc.

If you can be happy with one of the available profiles OR using it without the Bongiovi on, then it is a great product for the current price. That's my .02 !

For your info, VAR SUB 03 is the least processed of all the profiles. If you are looking to take advantage of the 5 volt outputs and other swell features and your system really doesn't need signal processing, then try that one. Thanks for the feedback!
